Recreate? Re-create?
So these are my favorite recreation shoes! They are not running shoes or excercise shoes, they are golf shoes! Golf is one of my favorite recreations.
I do not find it funny that the two words re – creation and recreation are spelled exactly the same just pronounced a bit different. Re-creation, as defined at dictionary.com is to create anew. Recreation is a diversion for refreshment and enjoyment. When we recreate, we re-create!
As women, it is especially important to take time out to recreate. Our bodies, our emotions, our hearts need to be re-created. We can get bogged down in the daily drudgery of life that the joy of living gets lost. To often we feel guilty if we take time for recreation and something mundane does not get done, like laundry or dishes.
When I play golf, I am outside enjoying the birds singing, and even deer run across the fairways! The sun feels good on my face and shoulders. When I swing the club, I feel powerful, even if the ball goes no where near my intended target! With every swing, I have to clear my mind and focus on the shot. When my round is over, it does not matter what I shot or how tired I am, I always feel refreshed and renewed.
Ladies, put on your recreation shoes and go re-create yourself! Let me know what you did and how it re-created you.
Barefoot!
The way you come into this world and the way you will go out. What happens in between is what really matters.
With the passing of my dear friend, Karen Haas Smith, I have been reflecting on life and how have I lived it thus far. Karen lost a 3.5 year battle with cancer on Friday, June 10. She lived longer than any doctor previously thought she would. Karen was a woman of laughter, love, grace and determination. She loved Jesus and is now spending eternity with Him.
What will be said about me when I die? What will be said about you? How will you be remembered by your friends and family? What legacy will we leave behind?
How do you want to be remembered? Start there. Answer that question and then live your life accordingly. We all come into this world barefooted and we will leave barefooted. Live your life in – between leaving a legacy that will be remembered by others.
